Cookies: at most two cookies
The byrsa.tech website (and all of its subdomains) uses at most two cookies. The first is a strictly technical cookie set by our live chat tool, Chatwoot (see the "Chatwoot, our live chat tool" section below), required for the chat window to work properly: it does not require your prior consent. The second is a cookie set by the "La Fabrique du Net" partner badge shown in our footer (see the "La Fabrique du Net" section below): it is only set if you explicitly consent via the banner shown on your first visit. No other cookie or tracking technology (local storage used for tracking, device fingerprinting, advertising pixels, etc.) is used for audience measurement or targeted advertising purposes.
Data collected and anonymization
We only measure overall, anonymous site traffic: pages viewed, time spent, traffic source (search engine, social network, direct link), device type, operating system and browser used, and the country of connection (determined in an aggregated way, without retaining the full IP address). This information is purely statistical and aggregated: it never allows us to identify you individually, to reconstruct your browsing activity outside our site, or to associate it with any personal data (name, email, account identifier, etc.). No data is sold, rented, or transmitted to third parties for commercial purposes. For any question about this processing, or to exercise your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection), you can contact us at the following address: dpo@byrsa.tech.
Umami, a self-hosted audience-measurement tool
These statistics are produced by Umami, a free, open-source audience-tracking tool that uses no cookies and is privacy-friendly by design. Umami is not a third-party service: it is installed and hosted by us on our own servers, at OVH SAS, headquartered in Roubaix (France), the same host listed in the "Hosting" section of this Legal Notice. Your browsing data therefore never passes through third-party platforms such as Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel, or any other advertising tool, and never leaves the European Union. On a technical level, Umami sets no cookies and does not retain your IP address: a hashed, single-use identifier, recalculated daily, is used only to distinguish visits within the same day, without allowing you to be recognized from one day to the next or from one site to another. Aggregated statistics are kept for a maximum of 2 years, after which they are automatically deleted.
Legal basis and CNIL consent exemption
In accordance with the recommendations of the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), audience-measurement tools can be exempted from obtaining prior user consent when they meet strict conditions: a purpose strictly limited to producing anonymous statistics, no cross-referencing with other data processing, no transmission of data to third parties, and no tracking of browsing across other websites. Our use of Umami in self-hosted mode, without cookies or persistent identifiers, and without any data sharing, meets all of these criteria. This is why using Umami does not, by itself, require a consent banner. A separate consent is however requested for the third-party cookie from La Fabrique du Net (see the corresponding section below).
Chatwoot, our live chat tool
To let you talk directly with our team, we use Chatwoot, a free, open-source live chat solution that we host ourselves (self-hosted), available at livechat.byrsatech.fr. This tool sets a technical cookie as soon as the site loads, needed to keep your conversation session active from one page to another; it is not an audience-measurement or advertising cookie, and no prior consent is required for it since it is strictly necessary for the service to work. If you start a conversation through this widget, the information you voluntarily share with us (name, email address, message content) is used solely to respond to your request, and is kept for as long as necessary to handle it, in accordance with the retention policy configured on our Chatwoot instance. This data is never sold or transferred to third parties. In accordance with the GDPR, you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, or erasure over these exchanges by contacting us at: dpo@byrsa.tech.
La Fabrique du Net, partner badge
The "partner agency" badge shown in our footer is provided by La Fabrique du Net, a third-party web agency directory, as a script loaded directly from their servers (www.lafabriquedunet.fr). Unlike Umami and Chatwoot, this script is not hosted by us: it is a genuine third-party service, and loading it causes that third-party site to set a cookie. This is why the script is only loaded, and that cookie only set, after you have given explicit consent via the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, or later withdraw your consent via "Manage cookies" in the footer, the script is immediately removed and no further request is sent to La Fabrique du Net; the badge is then simply not shown. As this cookie is set by La Fabrique du Net's own domain, we are not technically able to delete it directly from our site once it has been set: it expires on its own after its own lifetime, or can be deleted at any time via your browser's cookie settings. For any question about this processing, you can contact us at: dpo@byrsa.tech.
